Difference between acrylic and gel extension

nail gel extension

Why is there acrylic extension and also hard gel extension? What is the difference between them?

In fact, both of them are same and made of acrylic. The former is used with a combination of acrylic powder and monomer liquid. While exposing the monomer liquid to the environment, you can breath a strong smell of the liquid which can be unhealthy with prolonged breathing of it.

Hard gel, which contains additional short chain monomers, known as oligomers, make the gel nail more flexible compared to acrylic nails. The mixture used is also completely ordourless, which make it safe for pregnant women to wear artificial nails. Our manicurist has gone through her pregnancy while doing manicure for her clients and herself. It’s an example that it is safe.

Hard gel extension can cost slightly more than acrylic extension, however the benefits are better. Although hard gel is a better choice, we still cannot avoid using acrylic for sculpture purposes. That’s also one reason why we try to prepare the sculpture in advance and not do it on the manicure session itself.
